Pipe Reynolds Number Reference

Compare Reynolds number across authored pipe bore scenarios at your velocity and kinematic viscosity. Flag the uncertain transition region before using friction.

How to use this data

Re=v[m/s]D[m]/ν[m²/s];1 cSt = 10^-6 m²/s. Bore is actual inside diameter. Threshold labels match the disclosed existing pipe solver convention.

    CHECK THE METHOD

    Worked example

50 mm, 1 m/s and 1 cSt give Re 50000. At velocity 0.05 m/s the same bore gives Re 2500, flagged as uncertain transition.

    Common lookup questions

What should I confirm before using this lookup?

Disturbance, entry length, roughness and geometry affect transition. The label is a planning convention for pipe flow, not a universal fluid-dynamics answer or measured regime.

    TRACEABLE DATA

    Sources, scope & verification

    Dataset v1.3.0
    Last verified:

Ten authored bores. Labels use the existing Pump TDH convention: below 2300, 2300–4000 uncertain transition, above 4000. These are not universal transition thresholds.

Values are curated product facts or generated scenarios. Paid standards, complete catalogs and source diagrams are not reproduced. A verification date applies to this documented subset.
